I made the decision to transition from my career as a trainer to pursue a new venture as a bloodstock agent about a year ago. It’s been an exciting journey, and I’ve been quietly building up my business on the stunning Kapiti Coast. It’s a change of pace that I’ve come to cherish, even though there’s one thing I can’t quite escape from my previous life—my early morning wake-up routine.

For the past 28 years, I’ve been accustomed to rising at 4.30 a.m. daily to tend to my horses. The transition to a more regular schedule has been an adjustment, and I still find it challenging to sleep in, even after a year. Nevertheless, I’m loving this new phase of my life. The freedom is energising; I’m no longer tied to the demands of the stable. While I enjoyed my time as a trainer, my new path offers a refreshing change.

I’m now fully immersed in the world of bloodstock, and it’s a role that brings me immense satisfaction. The difference is not that I didn’t enjoy training, but rather that this marks a unique step in my life, one I’m relishing.

Having been the trainer of the legendary Tavistock (NZ), I’m familiar with the world of racing and the spotlight it can cast. However, I’ve consciously maintained a low profile as II embark on this new chapter, not because of my reserved nature, but because of my commitment to serving my loyal clients faithfully and as a top priority.

I look forward to expanding my horizons and networking across the globe, I’ve already nurtured valuable relationships with clients in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Australia. This year, I’ve been actively engaged in sales events and have adeptly acquired horses for discerning Australian buyers. My proven track record of identifying outstanding horses from sales in the past instils confidence that I can continue to do so for fellow trainers and enthusiasts alike.
